About This Mod

OpenIV 4.0 provides basic support for Red Dead Redemption 2. First, there is currently no editing functionality; you cannot edit RDR. 2 files in OpenIV 4.0.

Since this is the first version to support Red Dead Redemption 2, the available functionality is very limited; OpenIV lets you

- Open and view the RPF RDR. 2 archive.

- Open and view RDR. 2 texture files (.ytd).

- Open and view META/PSO RDR. 2 files (.ymt, .ymf, .yas, .ych, .ymap .ytyp).

- Open and play RDR. 2 audio files (.awc).

- Open and view RDR. 2 localization files (.yldb).

Support for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be enhanced in future releases.

RDR. 2 RPF archive support

There are a few things you need to know:

- The new RPF8 archive has no file names, only hashes.

- From games you can extract a lot of file names - like GTA V, RDR. 2 contains a number of META, XML and PSO files, which store the names of files and archives. For some archives, all file names are already known.

- Currently, the OpenIV 4.0 file name database is very limited. We hope to add to this database with every subsequent update.

META/PSO file support for RDR. 2

Unlike GTA V, RDR. 2 takes a different approach to supporting PSO files. All PSO files can now be opened and viewed in XML format. However, many of these files lack names and strings. In addition, the format of the generated XML has not yet been finalized, so it is impossible to read these XML files, as was the case with some files in GTA V.

PSO files contain a lot of data that needs to be analyzed and from which many file names can be extracted. This will be done in a future update. At the moment, there is only basic support for studying these files.

In a future release, code will be integrated to work with GTA V and RDR. 2 PSO files. This allows you to view all GTA V PSO files and edit RDR. 2 PSO files.

General changes, improvements, and fixes in OpenIV 4.0

Added an option in the OpenIV settings to skip the game selection dialog when OpenIV starts:

Interface localization

Instructions for localizing the OpenIV interface into other languages have been released; instructions are available on GitHub.
