About This Mod

The BMP-2 was introduced in the late 1970s and can be considered an improved version of the BMP-1. Its development began in the early 1970s. The first prototype was created in 1974; it eliminated many of the shortcomings of the BMP-1; it was adopted by the Soviet Army in 1980; first entered service in 1982; the BMP-2 was produced in large numbers, and only the Soviet Army received about 20,000 vehicles.


The BMP-2 was produced under license in Czechoslovakia (BVP-2) and India (Sarath). Almost the same car was also produced in Bulgaria (BMP-30). In terms of quantity, the BMP was one of the most important combat vehicles in the Eastern Block. It was also exported to the Soviet Union. Currently BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles are used in the following countries: Algeria, Angola, Afghanistan, Belarus, Czech Republic, Finland, India, Iran, Jordan, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Slovakia, Syria, Turkmenistan and Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
