Improved NPC textures 1.1
About This Mod
The improved NPC textures replace the textures of all named human NPCs with more pleasant and less blurred ones, without changing their appearance. This does not apply to pets, horses, Akku or unnamed NPCs such as casual tourists.
Improvements range from the subtle (e.g. Arlo) to the highly visible (Gale), with a focus on the more sympathetic eyes.
Version 1.1 automatically selects the correct texture for NPC with DLC clothing without requiring any fitting.
Important: If you are upgrading from version 1.0, please remove all files from the old version to avoid compatibility issues!
You do not need to upgrade to version 1.1 unless you are using or have DLC (but you will miss the additional Phyllis below).
Requirements:
You must have Unity Mod Manager and Custom Textures installed.
Technical side:
All textures were enlarged and denoised using Waifu2X, and then reduced to their original size (see exceptions below). On many textures, the eyes were edited manually (or completely redrawn in Gale's case). Several other minor corrections and corrections were also made. Finally, all textures were compressed as lossless as possible using PNGGauntlet to save space and RAM (about 11 MB, hurrah). Some NPC textures with outfits from DLC were cut into appropriate pieces, again to save space, but some turned out to be too much work for too little use and were left as is.
Noteworthy things:
Some textures are larger than their vanilla analogs, namely...
Emily's face is actually tiny and otherwise swells into a blurry mess.
Nora - because of the way her eyes are made (believe me, you better not know).
Mint's face - it was too small.
Ginger - Because she deserves something good.
Sam - Fashion lacks files for her standard clothes and hair/caps (because I have no idea how to make them work), but her textures already have high resolution, so it doesn't matter much.
Gust - No enhanced textures for his DLC hair, hat and cloak. Again, I don't know how to make them work, my fault.
Additional files:
There are a few optional files, most of them return changes I made because of personal preferences. [Corresponding File Name]
Nora with Blue Eyes - She actually has blue eyes in the picture, so you may prefer this option. [4000006.png]
Phyllis with original blue eyes - In the alpha she had green eyes, and I think it suits her more. You may not like it. [4000035_Phyllis_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png]
May's vanilla design is a standard version closer to her image (lighter hair, less lipstick, less bright eyes, less ugly), use this one if you want to bring back the old design. [4000052.png]
Thick with original tiny pupils - If you like this look from the pieces. [4000091_Gust_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png]
Dr. Xu with original huge eyes - Seriously, they were huge. Use this if you prefer huge. [4000092_Doctor_xu_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png and/or 4000092_Doctor_xu_LOD0_Face.png]
Petra with the original frontal alopecia - Taste is not taken into account, I suppose. [4000094.png]
Martha with an original psychotic look - Self-evident. [4000019.png]
Higgins and whiskers - They're coming for him. [4000097.png]
Toby in the Body - In case standard Toby seems too creepy (and yes, I really don't like him). [4000005.png]
Allen Carter - I changed it a little bit so it's different from the studio representative with the same texture. If you don't want it to be personal for some reason, it's for you (I've also fixed the strabismus in both of them). [4000121.png]
NEW in version 1.1: Even more depraved and sexy nurse Phyllis! "You know you want it. [4000035_Phyllis_LOD0_Clothes.png]
Installation:
After installing Unity Mod Manager and Custom Textures, move the asset folder from zip to:
