About This Mod

Magnesium Mod (1.16.5) is an unofficial Sodium Mod port ported from Fabric to Forge.Magnesium - it is a free and open replacement of the client rendering engine Minecraft, which significantly improves the frame rate and reduces microstuttering, as well as fixes graphical problems in Minecraft. Compared to other mods, it has wide compatibility with the Forge mod ecosystem and does not impair the look and feel of the game, giving it the feel of a real block game. The mod is not compatible with Optifine or Halogen.


The modern OpenGL rendering pipeline uses multi-rendering technology to significantly reduce CPU utilization (~90%) when rendering the world. This greatly increases the frame rate on most computers that are not cluttered by GPUs or other components. Even when the GPU is not up to date, the CPU can work on other render tasks in the wait, allowing for more stable frame times. Vertex data in chunks of rendering is more stable.

Vertex data in rendering units is more compact, reducing video memory and bandwidth requirements by about 40%.

Updates to adjacent blocks now take advantage of multithreading, which greatly reduces the delay spikes that occur when updating chunks.

Early in the rendering process, the faces of blocks that are not visible (or face away from the camera) are stripped out, so there is not much geometry that is processed by the GPU and immediately discarded. For integrated GPUs, this significantly reduces memory bandwidth requirements and provides acceleration even when bound to a GPU.

Multiple optimizations for chunk loading and block rendering, which greatly speeds up chunk loading and reduces the damage to frame rate.

Numerous optimizations for vertex construction and matrix transformations, significantly accelerating the rendering of block entities, mobs and objects.

Many memory management and allocation improvements that reduce memory consumption and lag caused by garbage collection.

Many graphical fixes for smoother lighting effects.

Smooth lighting of liquids and other special units.

Smooth mixing of blocks and liquids in the biome significantly improves the quality of graphics and significantly reduces the computational load.

Faster texture updates on most hardware (especially AMD cards) because animated textures that are not displayed in the world are not updated.
