About This Mod

LC-Boombox / Custom music from the boombox (Opus support!)

A fork of this fashion from Steven, adding support for Opus (.opus) files.


Also added is the built-in support of loading music files from Mods/Plugins and Config folders, which makes such corrective mods superfluous.


What is an Opus file?

Opus is a relatively new audio format (MP3, WAV, OGG, etc.) designed to provide high efficiency and quality. Many popular apps are already quietly using it (Discord, for example), but Unity does not support it out of the box. This mod adds this support manually when loading custom music from Boombox.


The benefits of using Opus files (and this mode) are as follows


Much better quality with smaller file size (even compared to MP3)

Significantly lower memory/memory usage

The music does not loop or end prematurely

There is no need for mods-commitators that work by copying files (doubling the storage space).

Downloading songs

The mod supports downloading songs from the following locations


Special Songs/Boombox Music

plugins/*/Special Songs

config/Special Songs

It is also possible to remove songs from Custom Songs/Boombox Music in case you have previously used the correction mode (disabled by default).

This mod is mainly based on Stephen's Custom Boombox Music.

Opus is an excellent free and open-source audio codec used in this fashion.

Concentus and Concentus.OggFile are the Opus codec port from C# and essentially the Ogg file decoder.
