About This Mod

Script to install NMC Fallout 3 High Definition texture package in Fallout New Vegas.

This mod was deprecated, use NMC Texture Pack For New Vegas to get HD textures in New Vegas.

This mod is no longer required, but is still working. If you have installed this mod in the past, you can upgrade by installing a new NMC mod on top of this mod; you don't need to remove this mod to install a new NMC mod.

This mod is outdated.

This script will load Fallout 3 HD textures from NMC into your New Vegas. See the NMC's HD Texture Pack page for a comparison of the screenshots.

Note: This mod is a small script, does not contain any NMC textures and only carries those textures that you really need from the texture package.

If you support this script, please support the NMC texture pack.

Please read all this before leaving a comment. It is better to read the answers here than to ask questions about comments.

Other notes.

Installation

There are three options for copying stunning NMC texture packs into New Vegas. The last option is simply to update the texture package.

1) "I have already installed a great HD texture pack from NMC in Fallout 3".

If you have both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas installed in Steam, you're in luck. This script will automatically locate them and copy compatible NMC HD texture files from your Fallout 3 installation to your New Vegas installation.

If Fallout 3 or New Vegas is not installed through Steam, you will need to specify the location of the game folder (or both of the game folders).

2) "I still don't have an amazing HD texture pack from NMC".

You must be joking. You've never used it before. Then a pleasant surprise awaits you. The texture gods of NMC alone and painstakingly retextured the Fallout 3 hollowness to incredible quality. Here's how to get textures

Download the texture package in the folder. A link to the download page is provided below. Which texture package to download depends on your system speed and preferences; for more information on NMC texture packages, read the descriptions on the respective pages.

NMC Fallout 3 HD texture pack and bump map (required).

Please remove -##### at the end of each file name to download.

If there are multiple texture packs, just double-click the first file to extract it.

Edit the script file and specify the path to the location of the backed up file.

Run the script file.

Follow the instructions below to disable the archive.

3) "I already use this script, but I added the bumpmap package and want to run it again".

If you are already using this script for a basic texture package and want to run it again only to add an additional bumpmap package, this is possible and has three options:

First option: Copy the files from the Fallout3 folder, then download and install the optional bumpmap package into Fallout3, run the script again, and copy it again. The basic texture file and the new optional bumpmap file will be copied again and the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file will be updated. This option will duplicate the voiding file section in the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file. To fix this, open the file in Notepad or another text editor, delete the first section, and leave the second new section.

Method two: download the bump map package and unpack it into the main texture package folder. Modify the script to point to this folder and run the script. The basic textures will be copied again, an additional bump map will be added to your New Vegas installation, and the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file will be automatically updated. For instructions on how to change the script, see the section below. Using this option will duplicate the voiding file sections in the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file. To fix this, open the file in Notepad or another text editor and delete the first section, leaving the second new section.

Third way: download only the optional bump map and unpack it into a new folder. Modify the script to point to this folder and run the script. Only compatible bump maps will then be copied to New Vegas and added to existing NMC hd textures. ArchiveInvalidation.txt will also be updated automatically. See the next section for script changes.

4) How to edit the script to specify the location of the game folder/NMC texture folder.

Follow these steps to manually specify the paths to the New Vegas folder and the Fallout 3 folder (or the folder where you extracted the NMC texture pack):

Open CopyHDTexturePackv1.1.cmd with a text editor such as Notepad.

Find the next two lines (if you don't see them, these are lines 29 and 30, counting from above)

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SET fonv_dir_falloutnv=

SET fonv_dir_fallout3=

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The first line specifies the New Vegas folder. If a value is missing, the script will attempt to locate the Steam folder automatically.

The second line shows the Fallout 3 folder or folder with extracted NMC textures. If no value is specified, the script will attempt to automatically locate the Fallout 3 steam folder.

To specify the path manually, edit the string associated with the folder path you want to specify. If the script automatically detects one of your game folders, you do not need to specify it manually.

Edit these lines to specify the folder location.

To specify the New Vegas folder location for the script, set vonv_dir_falloutnv to the New Vegas folder path.

To specify the Fallout 3 folder location for the script, set fonv_dir_fallout3 to the Fallout 3 folder path.

To script the location of a folder with extracted textures, synchronize fonv_dir_fallout3 with the path to the folder with extracted textures.

The folder for fonv_dir_fallout3 is c:㊟TextureFiles, and if c:㊟TextureFiles has a data folder, then c:㊟TextureFiles is the correct installation folder.

.

Example:

.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SET fonv_dir_falloutnv=c:\gamessteamsteamappsCommonfallout new vegas

SET fonv_dir_fallout3=c:¦games¦fallout

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

If no value is specified for either of these two lines, an attempt will be made to automatically determine the path to the game folder from Steam.

Save and close the file after you finish.

Backup deactivation procedure.

To use NMC Fallout 3 textures in New Vegas, you must disable the archive. If you've done this in previous New Vegas mods, you don't have to do anything, but if you haven't already, here's how:

.bsa method.

Download archiveInvalidationinValidated.bsa mod here (download manual version).

The downloaded archive contains a readme/instructions file, open it and follow the instructions as written. However, change not only the INI file in My Documents as described, but also the Fallout New Vegas file in the location where you installed Fallout New Vegas (in my case, C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout New Steam will copy Fallout_default.ini to fallout.ini every time you run the game. Always back up the original Fallout_default.ini file before making any changes (also ignore the optional [General] readme edits) and save it.

For advanced Windows users: Alternatively, you can prevent user accounts from writing to Fallout.ini.

Run the game and look at the texture changes in the game (some areas look the same, so look at the bin/bed/chair/tarmac, etc. and double check before thinking it doesn't work).

Thank you xReAcTiON.

archiveInvalidated.txt method.

Open the FalloutPrefs.ini file located in %userprofile%My DocumentsMy gamesFalloutNV.

Note: Back up your FalloutPres.ini file because it may be overwritten by the launcher if you change your settings.

In the [Archive] section of the .ini file, set the bInvalidateOlderFiles parameter to 1.

Note: This line should look like this: bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Save your changes and exit.

Another explanation states that this kind of override should be done using Fallout.ini; changing the value in Fallout.ini did not help, but changing the value in FalloutPrefs.ini did.

Frequently Asked Questions.

S: Can HD textures slow down my computer?

HD texture files can slow down your FPS depending on how weak your hardware is. If your system doesn't handle them, you can delete them. If you haven't had problems with the Fallout 3 HD texture pack, it'll be fine, as the NMC texture pack for Fallout 3 is very deep and most textures aren't used in New Vegas. It will not provide the same coverage as in Fallout 3. This script will load 1.3 GB HD textures, depending on which NMC texture package you have installed.

Your executable may need to modify Large Address Awareness Enabler, which is not yet required by New Vegas, so the link is not provided. HD textures can cause frame skipping if your graphics card has less than 1GB of memory.

Question: Is there any problem with this script?

As far as I know, this script does not cause any problems - if you install HD texture package in New Vegas, you will notice that many metal, cement, wooden objects, roads, floors and other objects have become more detailed. How much - depends on what level of texture package NMC HD you use.

[Q: I manually copied the texture list from HDTexturePack_file_list_v1.1.txt to ArchiveInvalidation.txt, and now the game is missing textures or the actors are using the wrong textures. In the game, textures are missing or the actors are using the wrong textures.

Please don't do that. This script will automatically update/create the ArchiveInvalidated.txt file. Why does he do this automatically? Because he only needs to add entries for textures on his hard drive. By copying the list of additional files in ArchiveInvalidated.txt, you can tell the game that you have all these textures, and do not use your own textures. OKAY. OK. S: Are there any problems with the use of HD texture files? .

The short answer is no, but there is always the possibility that something will happen. Read the NMC texture package description on the NMC HD Texture Packs page for more information.

Q: I really like fabrics and want to marry them. Can you give me permission?

Ask the NMC about this. Freak.

Q: I don't see any difference when I run this script.

You're probably doing it wrong. We encourage you to read all of these instructions.

C: Isn't it illegal to repack NMC's Epic HD textures?

Yes, it is. We consulted with the NMC beforehand, and he said the script was fine, as it was not a reissue or repackaging of his work.

Q: Do I need Fallout 3 to use it?

No, Fallout 3 is not required. Read the section above about configuring a folder path.

Q: When running the script, I receive an access denied message.

Looks like you need to run the script as an administrator. Right-click the script and choose Run as Administrator from the right-click menu, or log on to Windows with an account that belongs to the Administrators group.

S: I couldn't figure out how to upload NMC HD texture files to my machine.

This solution was provided by badger20:

Download the texture package (5 files) and place it in a folder.

Delete -##### at the end of each file.

Check out only the first file (the rest are automatically checked out).

Customize the script orientation to find the location of these files.

Run the script.

"No problem, whether you have an F03 or not, it will always work.

S:The path to Fallout contains an accent/non-English alphabet letter and the script says that the directory I specified does not exist.

If your path to the game is D˶UsersWÖòlfgangHéimlïch or C:˶GamesFállÖut, the script may not find the path to the game because of these bizarre letters.

In this case, you need to get the old dos 8.3 style names used by the script. To obtain them, follow the instructions below. Note: In the example below, the path is listed as C:³ UsersWÖòlfgangHéimlïch³ Downloads³ Fallout3TP.

Click Start and go to Run. If the Run menu does not appear, hold down Win and press R to open Run.

In the Run window, enter CMD and click OK.

A command shell window (a black text window) will open, containing the following (in your country's language)

If they stopped working after the update, the update may have overwritten the changes you made to disable the backup in the .ini Fallout NV file. Please check your disable backup settings again.

17.11.10 - FAQ was added.

05.11.10 - Description has been updated to make it more attractive.

29.10.10 - 40% more fiber is added to version 1.1 (fiber for French speakers).

This update replaces the previous installation script and installs all NMC Fallout 3 HD texture files in New Vegas.

Other notes.

Ninlil found a water bug in his system:

"All the puddles seem dry, but I can hear the gurgling of water."

Water reappears when these files are deleted:

If your pond is having similar problems, try a solution. The NMC texture packages used in New Vegas currently contain 1350 texture/bump files. The list can be viewed in HDTexturePackList on the files page.

The purpose of this script is not to repack textures that do not need repacking. Use this script to copy existing HD texture files to New Vegas. This script will be deprecated at a later time. Until then, he is doing nothing that cannot be done with a few tricks and a right-wing cabal.

This script is not a HD Texture Pack, but used in conjunction with NMC's Epic Texture Pack - neither a 20 KB script file nor a 5 KB file list are HD Texture Pack.

The optional HDTexturePackList file available for download is not a deactivate archive file. This is just a list to check which files the script can work with. The ArchiveInvalidation.txt file is automatically created/modified when the script is run. The reason for its automatic creation is that the maximum number of files is 1350, so if the machine has only 500 files, you only need to disable these 500 files, not the entire list of 1350 files.

If you are already using a previous version of this script, download the latest version and run it again on your current installation. The texture files will be copied again, resulting in a more complete set. After the installation is complete, open the archiveInvalidation.txt file and remove the old sections from the previous installation, leaving the new 1.1 sections.

This is a copy of the script start with the instructions:

If the game folder is not found, you will see the following:

::

:: To manually specify the path to the Fallout 3 and New Vegas folders

:: :: Edit two lines in the CopyHDTexturePackv1.1.cmd file with a text editor.

::

:: If no value is specified for any of the path strings in the file, try the following:

:: Automatically determine the path to the game folder from Steam.

::

:: If the Fallout 3 software folder does not exist and the HD texture files have been extracted to a different folder, you can specify that folder.

:: If you checked out texture files to another folder, you can specify that folder.

:: This folder should contain a data folder along with a texture folder.

:: Same as the regular Fallout 3 folder.

::

:: Example.

:: ::
