About This Mod

A complete rewrite of the famous fashion Fallout 3 Bittercup Companion, whose goal is to fully voice the Bittercap and make it functional at the same level as its impeccable vanilla companion.

Made for TTW 3.3.2.

Why?

The bittercap is my favorite TTW companion. However, it lacked a really solid and full-featured conversion that would work perfectly with other vanilla companions. So we decided to become perfectionists and transform it. The goal was to make the Bittercap feel like a companion in a standard game rather than a modified companion.

How?

I know many people are shunning AI voice, but for the Bittercap, it was the only way to expand her dialog to fit perfectly into the context of a follower. So with ElevenLabs (and a $5 subscription, I literally spent money on this mod), I expanded my voice line to talk about the traits of my companion and what it takes to recruit her. I've used all my character slots just for this fashion. But I think it's very well done and it doesn't seem creepy or weird.

Changes.

I tried to be as complete as possible, but I will mention some improvements.

Full compatibility with the companion wheel (and, as a result, with JIP CCC).

They behave in the same way as other companions. Ignore crimes, friendly blows, distances, perks, dialog options, sequences, conditions, etc. The same applies to the breakout points in Mojave (Goodsprings Hall and Lucky 38). There is still a special target search feature.

The game is fully voiced, with most of the voice work done by ElevenLabs. The tendency to make indiscriminate complaints has also diminished. He's still complaining, but he's getting less. Nor does he comment that you steal things or stumble on them. He comments only on the Big City in the Big City. Again, vanilla must function as a friend.

Cleaning. You only have what you need to perform your function, so conflict resolution should be minimal, if not essential.

What can be done.

Adjust the frequency of the dialogs during the conflict. It seems so unnecessary. It may have dialogs that other followers do not.

When more AI slots appear, replace the old mode dialogs.

Add comments to different locations in the wilderness, add a dialog about navigating through Mojave, etc. I'm not going to do all the quest lines for the Bittercap, but I want him to be a little bit more knowledgeable, not stupid. When he has a quota.

Passive command responses are too long. I need to create shorter answers for this.

Known issues.

This applies to all special followers to date: FNV and TTW have vanilla-specific teleportation commands, waiting and following in special activators and scripts scattered throughout. They can help prevent vanilla followers from entering the silent corridor or gladiatorial ring and following you through time. However, private followers are disregarded. You can't create a solution for a specific follower without causing too many conflicts, so we're working on a common solution for all followers.

This also applies to all special followers. Violent fidelity is ineffective unless it is specifically maintained. General fashion will fix it.

To recruit the Bittercap.

I don't think there are any followers who just go on and on without any door-hold mechanism or research - humanoid companions are very strong at Fallout, and I find it very easy to jump into the big city and pick up a Bittercap when I'm trying to enjoy a hard fight early in the game. To hire a Bittercap

Go to the big city.

Find the Bittercap and make sure you like it. Save your friends from Germantown police.

Hear Red say, "Help me stay alive."

The Bittercap will join you.
