Mortal Settlers
About This Mod
This mod is only for vanilla settlers. Please see my Better Settlers fashion for improving the settlers who will better cope with mortality.

Currently, the common settlers are protected, which means that only you can kill them. They are practically immortal when it comes to NPC attacks on your settlements. They malfunction for 15 seconds, then stand on their feet and repeat this cycle until all the attackers are dead. So it makes no sense to even help them defend themselves or give them good gear, as in the end they will kill everyone like zombies. I didn't like it, so I took the protection flag off most of them. The companions, Providers, Children and Named Settlers remain unchanged and will behave like vanilla (mostly protected).
If it matters, I did it with FO4Edit.
What does this mod do?
Removes the protection flag from most settlers so that they can now be killed during NPC attacks on settlements.
Settlers - "starters" (Sturgis and Longie) have not been changed, so it will not break your game.
Settlers - the "Providers" who travel between settlements, have not been changed, so it will not disturb your game.
Your companions have not been changed, so this won't break your game.
The children have not been changed and will behave the same way as in vanilla (I think they are protected).
"Named" settlers have not been changed and will behave like vanilla (some are protected, such as the Finch family, Abernathy, and Warwick, and some are not, such as the occasional boys on Warwick Farm).
What effect?
You must actively defend your settlements.
You have to equip them with good equipment.
I wouldn't dare give them grenades, rockets, hammers or fat men because they're just psychopaths.
How did you test it?
He loaded the mod, went to the Shelter, the Abernathy Farm, the Finch Farm and the Warwick Farm, established the god's regime, spawned many raiders and watched.
He did it three times.
The Providers and Lange entered the bleeding as usual and recovered.
The companions (Codsworth) entered the bleeding as usual and recovered.
The main named settlers entered the bleeding as usual and recovered.
Generic Settlers is dead.
What are the known issues?
Known Issues: I believe the only known issue has been fixed. They are no longer crippled and are now healed between battles. Please let me know if it doesn't work.
There's some kind of game setting that defrosts corpses under certain conditions. I don't know what it is.
As I walked through the corpses, the settler's corpse was taken away, so everything she had was lost.
So you can lose items on the corpses if they take off. (If someone tells me how to fix it, I will.)
I'm a very beginner modder and not an expert.

Installation
Make sure you have made all the necessary settings to enable mods in Fallout 4.

I strongly recommend installing mods through Nexus Mod Manager. The installation wizard will guide you through all the steps, and this minimizes the likelihood of future errors.
With Nexus Mod Manager (NMM):
1. Download mod by clicking "Download with manager".
2. Activate mod in Nexus Mod Manager
Uninstall
With Nexus Mod Manager (NMM):
1. Deactivate the mod by double-clicking on it.
2. Mark the deactivated mod and remove it or uninstall it.
