About This Mod

EGameTools is a mod menu that aims to add additional features to the game that are not provided by default, such as FreeCam, third-party control, weather and time, and to simplify the process of creating mods for developers.


EGameTools (abbreviated to Eric's Game Tools) is a mod menu developed in C++ and designed to add additional features that the game does not provide by default, such as FreeCam, Third Person, Weather, and Time controls, as well as to make it easier to create mods for mod developers.

STEP 1: Download the archive from Files.

STEP 2: Unzip the archive files to the game's exe folder (`Dying Light 2phworkbinx64`).


To uninstall, remove the `winmm.dll`, `EGameTools.asi`, `EGameTools.ini` and `EGameTools` labels (if any) from the game's exe folder (`Dying Light 2phpworkbinx64`).

Optionally, you can also delete the `EGameTools` folder from the `Dying Light 2phsourcedata` folder, which contains all the log files and the UserModFiles directory.



When you start the game, a console window will appear. Do not close it when it appears. Closing it will also end the game.


Change the menu.

By default, the F5 key is used to open and close menus. You can use the mouse to control the menu.

To change it, open the menu, press the `Menu Toggle Key` button and press a key on the keyboard to change the hotkey.


FreeCam

When using FreeCam, you can speed up or slow down by pressing Shift or Alt respectively.

When FreeCam is active, you can also use the scroll wheel to change the speed of FreeCam.


Menu slider.

To manually change the slider setting, hold down the CTRL key and click the slider.

This allows you to manually enter values for the slider, as well as override the additional slider restrictions.


Uploading user files

Example of a mod installation:


Mods always create the `EGameToolsUserModFiles` folder in the same folder as the game executable (exe) or fashion files.

This folder is used to install special files. It can download .PAK files as well as files extracted from .PAK. The latter has only been tested with some mods that modify files, such as some .scr, .gpufx, and other files found in the .PAK game archive, or .rpack files.

If you put .PAK in this folder, you can give it any name you like. If you place other file types, they must have the same name as the game file. The files in the `GameToolsUserModFiles` subfolders are automatically identified, so you can assign all mods to different folders.


The game reloads many files when loading a saved game, so if you want to edit and reload files without having to restart the game, simply reload the saved game, and the game will automatically reload most of these files.

If you want to add new files while playing, wait at least five seconds before reloading your saved game.

In addition, if there are multiple files with the same name, the game will select the first file found in this folder.


In short, you no longer need to use the dataX.pak mod. If you still use it, you can give it any name. You can open a .pak file, extract it into the `EGameToolsUserModFiles` folder, and run the game.

The files placed in this folder bypass the control of game files, so you can use these mods in the co-operative.


Note Mods placed in the `EGameToolsUserModFiles` folder as regular files (.scr and other files normally found in .PAK mods), rather than as .PAK files in the `EGameToolsUserModFiles` folder, will cause the game to ignore the same files found in .PAK. For most mods, .PAK is recommended. If you are having problems, try extracting the files in .PAK directly to the folder.


For mod developers.

If you want to create a mod to download to EGameTools, try using as few folders as possible. For example, you should only have the `EGameToolsUserModFiles2019 Weather Mod` folder in your fashion.

This is due to the fact that my mod constantly checks for new files in the directory, so the presence of a large number of folders slows down this process and slows down the time of loading the game. So please keep that in mind.

Reloading game variables

You can also reload the player variables from the specified files or skip the parameters from `EGameToolsUserModFiles`.


Keyboard shortcuts.

Most of the options on the fashion menu can be toggled with hotkeys, which can be accessed by pressing the hotkey button of the corresponding option and pressing the key on the keyboard.

To change shortcuts from the configuration file, see Microsoft Virtual Keyboard Codes. For each shortcut key, enter the key code name you want to use and save the configuration file.


Configuration.

The `EGameTools.ini` configuration file is stored in the same folder as the game executable (exe), or in the same folder as the mode file.

The configuration file stores fashion menu options and hotkeys.


Changes to the fashion menu and configuration file are always automatically saved or updated.

You do not need to restart the game to apply the configuration changes.

If you want to recreate the configuration file, simply delete it and it will be automatically recreated.


Magazines

Log files are stored in the EGameTools folder in `log.x.txt` format. The last log file name will be `log.txt`.

Currently, the mod is designed for single-player play. This means that in multiplayer, some features may become glitzy or not work at all.

If this happens, please open the bug report.


The mod is designed to withstand game updates, but it may not withstand a major upgrade. If a major game update breaks the mod, I probably already know about it and am working on a fix. If not, please open the error message.
