Davisville State High School is an elementary school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school was built in 1962 to a design by Frederick Etherington and Peter Pennington. The school's expressionist décor became a recognized trend among Canadian architects and architecture fans, most notably the building itself housing the aforementioned Davisville Public High School and Toronto Metropolitan School for the Deaf (MTSD). ), and the MTSD wing building underwent a slight expansion in 1966. In order to renovate and modernize the building, the Toronto Regional Board of Education decided to demolish the building and build a new school there. This would require the tdsb to retain such a building, and was met with opposition from many groups, such as the City of Toronto, Ontario Architectural Reserve, to consider granting the building "heritage" status and thus protecting it from demolition. However, this did not happen, and in 2019, TDSB, which is now the only tenant of the building since the move of MTSD in 2014, closed the building, began dismantling and building a new school, and in 2021 opened a new school.
