About This Mod

This mod makes infections far more deadly, as it takes less time to reach 100%, and infection happens randomly every time you get infected.


In vanilla play (in a19), infection reaches 100% in about 7 [real-time] hours without treatment.


This mod changes this rate to 3 hours (maximum allowed real time) and adds an element of randomness, so every time you get infected, you have a chance to get less time to treat the infection.


The chances of "remaining time" [real time, not playing] after infection are currently:


% Chance - Time [real time, not playing] up to 100% infection if not treated


%15 - 3 hours

%20 - 2 hours

%25 - 1.5 hours

%25 - 1 hour

%10 - 45 minutes

%5 - 30 minutes

Why?

Increases the difficulty of the game.

More diving. You will never know how badly you are infected until you are scratched. Maybe it was a deep scratch, maybe it was a mutant strain, who knows.

No more incentive to touch zombies.

More incentives not to ignore infections. You may have to carry antibiotics all the time or run to the base/dealer/other players immediately to get them.

An untreated infection during a night horde or early in the game, when you cannot loot or trade, can easily be fatal.
