About This Mod

Compatible v4.0.2 Next-Gen versions available

Next-Gen compatible versions of this mod removed modifications for files with cut feast scenes (since this was fixed in v.4.0.*). Novigrad's guards were also removed, as CDPR made them high-quality in the Next-Gen versions of the game.

Witcher 3 makes extensive use of single-file character backgrounds, which have poor LOD, poor light reflection properties, and no facial animation when commenting. This mod replaces all 200-plus character files in the game that use these low-quality character models. The modification includes civilian men and women, community guards, children and non-humans for vanilla play, and all DLCs.

WARNING: This mod does NOT change all NPCs!!! He only edits non-interactive background community characters, which in vanilla play are of low quality (about 40% of all background community characters - mostly in Novigrad). Other non-interactive characters in the background community were already high-quality. In Skellig, for example, 0% of low-quality background community characters.

This mod is 100% compatible with the BiA Bug Fix mod, but should be used in a higher priority order.

In some places, this mod may slightly reduce the variety of characters (as community and quest characters can sometimes use the same looks), but at the expense of higher quality. However, most vanilla models of lower-quality community characters use exactly the same faces, with only some color variations on their typical outfits. So, in this respect, community models will now be more diverse.

CAUTIONS:

This mode greatly increases the load on the game engine in places where people congregate, which can cause the characters to be in a T-shaped position and/or their heads to hang at right angles near the body. In mild cases it happens for a short time, but I have seen cases where it can continue for a long time. The only way to reduce the risk or frequency of occurrence is to reduce the video graphics setting in the game menu for the parameter "number of background characters". 'Medium' is recommended.

Additionally, note that changing the character's appearance at any time during the game may result in invisible body parts (especially during some scenes), as the game apparently stores texture and grid information in save files. These problems can be volatile and unpredictable and often manifest themselves differently among different people. The only guaranteed way to avoid these problems is to start a new playthrough and not change the character's appearance during the game.

COMPATIBILITY:

For BiA Bug Fix mode, put this mode in a higher priority (starting with BiA v7.1).

For Faction Appearance Project, put FAP in higher priority.

There are no conflicts for Warmly Dressed Skelligers, so it must be compatible in any priority order.

This mod does not edit models or grids, it simply reassigns models/grids to community characters, so it is fully compatible with mods that edit models/grids, such as HDPR and HC4K.
