About This Mod

Changing one of the game's settings, fDamageWeaponMult, from 0.5 to 1.0 effectively doubles the damage done by knives, blunt blades, and bows to weapons Level scaling in Oblivion is a topic for much controversy, and over the years, many mods have been created. Over the years, many mods have been made to balance this. The basic formula used to determine weapon damage includes seven different game settings and takes into account physical characteristics, weapon skills and state. The main problem is that this variable multiplies in all equations, seemingly without any reason. After doing a little research, I couldn’t find any information about why this variable exists or what it is, and after watching a The Old Knight video on the subject, I was inspired to create this extremely simple fashion. Comment Doubling down on weapon damage for all players may seem like a rough "solution" to the problem of level scaling, but I encourage you to watch the video and see how awful the default weapon damage formula is in Oblivion really. For example, Umbra, the most powerful single-handed sword in the game, deals only 13 damage per strike at 50% fatigue. Have you ever wondered why the damage of a big sword at the beginning of the game is only 2 units? This is not a typo, but a problem with the damage formula of the weapon in Oblivion. The weapon will now deal the same damage as spells such as Devastation. The following is the melee weapon damage formula in vanilla Oblivion, bold fDamageWeaponMult, orange Game Settings: spoiler Show setting There are four files: one 'fDamageWeaponMult' from 0.5 to 1.0 (double damage), one from 0.5 to 0.875 (75% damage), one from 0.5 to 0.75 (50% damage), and one from 0.5 to 0.625 (25% damage). Please use only one master file. Download the .esp file and drop it in the data folder or download using Wrye Bash or Mod Organiser 2. I recommend using version 0.625 (or 0.75 if you want to reduce complexity) and install Sensible Creature Health and Sensible NPC Health mods from the famous DwemerPuzzleBox. While this will completely eliminate the problem of scaling levels, it will make fights a little more spammy; you will have to be a little spammy to enjoy Oblivion. Of course, it's up to you.
