What kind of library is this?

This library basically allows you to easily interact with your game so you can focus more on the functionality of the developed fashion. It does nothing on its own, but rather is a "tool" to help other fashions.


Doesn't Modding Helper already exist?

Yes, but the difference is that this is a brand new version of Modding Helper. This is because we have significantly changed the way the library works and how other mods can use it. It also fixes a lot of bugs, adds a lot of new features, and overall it's a huge improvement.


Is it compatible with mods using the old Modding Helper?

Not anymore. Since version 2.3, all old APIs have been removed.

This is due to the fact that "Little Big Update" now requires updating all mods.


How do I upgrade to the new version?

Do not delete old folders! Simply replace the files in the original Modding Helper folder with the files in the new archive.

This is the same as upgrading to a new version.


I'm a modder, how do I turn on the debug log?

You can enable the debug log (for development and troubleshooting) by changing the value in the new EnableDebugLogs.txt file.

Debug logging can also be enabled from the Mods in-game menu, but most SMLHelper actions (i.e. logging) occur before the main menu is loaded.

Since this occurs before the main menu is loaded, in most cases it is only valid during subsequent downloads of the game.
