BepInEx is a universal modding framework for Unity mods. BepInEx includes the following tools and libraries

What does this package contain?


This package is preconfigured and ready for use for Subnautica modding.

In particular, this package includes.


Tobey.Subnautica.ConfigHandler is a custom BepInEx patcher that automatically performs QModManager-compatible BepInEx configuration,

Tobey.UnityAudio, a customizable BepInEx patcher that automatically adds support for Unity sound when the mod needs it.

Tobey.FileTree, a customizable BepInEx plugin that saves the game's file tree to assist in troubleshooting.

TL;DR. is that QModManager is compatible with BepInEx, but there are a few things you should be aware of.

Do not install QModManager unless it is an old branch.

You won't see any changes in the game just by installing this package.


Check the LogOuput.log file in the BepInEx folder to determine if BepInEx is installed.


Windows (Vortex)


Vortex is a tool for installing and managing mods in Windows. You can install any mod for Subnautica and other games, including this package.


1. install Vortex Mod Manager. Make sure it is updated.


2. Click the Vortex button at the top of the page to install.


3. Check the 🔔 area in the upper right corner of Vortex:


If QModManager is installed, Vortex may notify you to reinstall/uninstall QModManager. Do the following:

If you see a notification of type "Upgrade required to deploy", press Upgrade to allow the update.

If you see a notification of the type Deployment Required, click Deploy.


4. start the game.


macOS (gib)


gib is a command-line tool that automates the installation of BepInEx on macOS.


1. Download Toby's BepInEx for Subnautica from the Files tab. If your browser does not open it automatically, unzip it in the download folder.


2. Open the Terminal in Launchpad or Spotlight (⟩ Press space, type terminal and press Enter).


Copy the command from the Usage section into README, as in #3, paste it into Terminal using ⌘ V, and press Enter to run it.

Manual Installation
