About This Mod

The Southern Model 2 submachine gun, developed in Japan in the 1930s, was not produced by Southern, but improved the uncomfortable handle and reliability of the Model 1 (the second version is too small). The pistol worked as follows: the barrel casing to which the bolt was attached entered the cartridge, loaded the cartridge and released it; then the barrel recoil returned it to its original position.


The reliability of the weapon was relatively low, especially due to the fully open return spring, which was heated quickly by the position around the barrel.


Only a few dozen such guns were produced, but they were adopted when Japan began to withdraw to several fronts.
