About This Mod

The M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle (ESR), formerly known as the XM2010 and M24 Reconfigured Sniper Weapon System, was developed by PEO Soldier for the U.S. Army as a successor to the M24 Sniper Weapon System, allowing for increased firing ranges in mountainous and desert areas during the Afghanistan War. After winning the tender, Remington received an order to manufacture up to 3,600 weapons. The Army planned to send the upgraded weapons to snipers in late 2010, and it was expected to arrive in January 2011. M2010 uses .300 Winchester Magnum (7.62×67 mm) ammunition, which is about 50 longer in range. The switch to larger caliber ammunition was made possible by the M24's design using a long-bolt version of the Remington 3.34, designed for cartridges up to a total length of 84.84 inches (700 mm).
