About This Mod

Since 1919, Poland has relied on the French FTS light tanks to maintain order at home, using them along with dozens of armored vehicles. In 1931, however, this changed when modernization work began, and the army considered various alternatives. Along with the Carden-Lloyd Mk.VI tanks, which were already the basis of the successful TK series, the technical requirements for a more powerful front-line tank led to the study of the American M1930 Christie and the British Vickers Mk.E. After unsuccessful negotiations with the United States, the choice turned to the Vickers, whose tank had already attracted the attention of Soviet representatives (and served as the prototype for the T-26).


In 1930, the Polish delegation signed a contract for the supply of 50 tanks, of which 12 were to be assembled in the country under license. Although the first copy was positively impressed, a number of problems were soon discovered, including a sensitive (even unreliable) and overheated engine, weak armament and protection, and insufficient speed. In addition, the cost of one Mk.E was 180,000 złoty, which forced the Polish government in 1931 to abandon the order and start developing its own model based on the Vickers design.
