Final bug fix in the Prof Fig repository

Step 0: Back up your save folder!!!

0a) In Windows Explorer, paste this into the address bar above: %LocalAppData%\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\SaveGames

0b) You should see a 6-9 digit folder with many .sav files inside.

0c) This is your save folder. Make at least two copies of the entire folder!

Then proceed as follows. Take your time. It may be wise to print this page and mark the steps as you proceed. You want to get it right the first time...

Stages 1-2: Prepare the third-party mods we will need

1a) Remove everything from Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\. Just put it all in a different folder, but NOT in the Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\ folder, and not in any subfolder. A folder on your desktop is the best choice.

1b) If the ~mods folder does not exist, create it.

2a) Install Blueprint Apparate Modloader by following the instructions on the description page of this mod.

2b) Install UICore by following the instructions on the description page of this mod.

2c) Install SQL Mod Menu following the instructions on the description page of this mod.

Step 3: Enable third-party mods and create a "clean" save file

Enable UICore and SQL Mod Menu (if you haven't already) and create a "clean" save file as follows:

3a) Start Hogwarts Legacy.

3b) Upload your latest save file manually.

3c) Press F8.

3d) Enter DekUICore in the small window that appears and press return. (* See below.)

3e) Enter DekSQLModMenu in the small box and press return. (*See below.)

3f) Quickly move outside of Hogwarts and save your game.

(3g) This step is very important because it removes all damaged mission assets.

3h) Exit the game.

*When you press the return button in steps 3d and 3e, the text you enter should drop to the bottom of the window. If this does not happen (the text remains in the top line), something went wrong when setting the appropriate mode. This usually means that you put the files in the wrong folder. They must be in Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\. See note 1.

Step 4: Install my mod (which will restart the mission from the beginning)

4a) Manually download this mod.

4b) Extract the PAK file from the ZIP file.

4c) Copy the PAK file to: Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\

4d) It is very important that the save file (in step 3f) is created before this mode is installed.

Steps 5-6: Set SQL Mode in SQL Modes menu to recover corrupted mission data (fires on next game boot)

5a) Restart the game.

5b) Once you get to the character selection screen, you should see two new buttons in the lower left corner. (See Figure 1.)

5c) Select "Database Mods". The SQL Mod Menu window should appear.

5d) Press ">" four times until you reach the "Gameplay" section (currently empty).

5e) Click Add New. A new window with the purple title "New SQL Mod" should appear.

6a) Click on the title and change it from "New SQL Mod" to "Prof Fig Bug Fix".

6b) Press ">" to go to "On Enabled".

6c) Click where it says "Type SQL Operation here" and insert the following (see Figure 2):

UPDATE MissionDynamic SET Integer1=9268438, Integer4=0, Integer6=9265249 WHERE MissionID="FGS_01" AND Text1="WaitforStorygraphComplete";

DELETE FROM StoryGraphPersistenceDynamic WHERE Key="UseWand_SG";

6d) Press ">" three times to go to the "Triggers" section.

6e) Switch "OnModLoaded" to OFF and "onloadScreenEnd" to ON.

6f ) Click Enable. (See Figure 3.)

6g) Press "APPLY". The mod menu must close.

6h) Exit.

Step 7: Correct the save file

7a) Restart the game.

7b) Download your save from step 3f.

7c) Check your health. If it ends with "7", then my mod has loaded normally. If not, then the mod didn't load correctly. See note 2.

7d) IMMEDIATELY SAVE your game, which I hope is now fixed.

7e) Exit the game.

Step 8: Clean up (to make sure we didn't break anything by applying the changes a second time)

8a) Delete this mod by deleting the PAK file from Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\.

8b) This is very important! Do not leave it installed after this point!

8c) Restart the game.

8d) On the character selection screen, press "Database Mods".

8e) Press > four times.

8f) Select "Prof Fig Bug Fix".

8g) Click "Disable".

8h) Click Apply.

8i) Exit the game.

Steps 9-10: Check if it worked!

9a) Restart the game.

9b) Download the save file (the one in step 7d, not step 3f).

9c) Move quickly to the Kartoteka (where Professor Fig is located).

9d) Talk to Professor Fig (finally!) and listen to what the Guardians say.

9e) When the scene is over, save the game.

Step 11: Final steps

11a) Remove third party mods if you want. Or leave them alone. SQL Mod Menu has several interesting options... 😉.

11b) Return all your original mods to the ~mods folder.

11c) Don't forget to upload your old saves, otherwise you'll have to do it all again!

Failure Notes

Note 1) Check Steps 2b and 2c. Then continue from step 3a.

Note 2) Check Steps 1a and 4a to 4c. Then continue from step 7a.

Note 3) Replace the save folder with a fresh copy (from the backups), and then try again from step 3a, skipping the steps highlighted in pink if you have already done them (and they worked). Make sure you follow the instructions exactly. It's very easy to make a mistake!

If Everything Went Wrong

If you make an error or something goes wrong, follow the instructions in Failure Note 3.

Conflicts

This mod changes and replaces the SQL PhoenixShipData.sqlite database file in the game. If you have any other SQL mods installed, they may interfere with the correct operation of this mode. So the safest thing to do is just delete all mods while you run this one. If you are sure that you do not have any SQL mods, you can leave your mods in place, but you do it at your own risk.
