About This Mod
Description: In 1947 at the plant No. 2 in accordance with the TTT GAU began the development of the ZPU-1 unit with one 14.5 mm machine gun S.V. Vladimirov. Two projects were developed, G.F. Shafirov's project was recognized as the best. However, the prototype ZPU-1, built according to this project, did not withstand the test facility. Two of them were developed by G.F. Shafirov and I.S. Leschynsky, and the other two - E.D. Vodopyanov and E.K. Lachynsky. At the design stage, the projects of E.D. Vodopyanov and E.K. Lachynsky were recognized as the best. In 1948, the technical design of the aircraft was improved and an experimental aircraft was built. In the same year, the prototype underwent polygon and aggregate tests.
