About This Mod

The military special forces of the Soviet Union included 14 army brigades, 2 naval brigades and a number of separate units and companies of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), known collectively as the "Special Forces of the GRU". These units and formations were disguised by the shape and ranks of Soviet paratroopers (army special forces) or marines (marine special forces) and existed in the atmosphere of strict secrecy. Twenty-four years after the creation of the Special Forces, the head of the KGB, General Yuri Andropov (1967-1982), created the first anti-terrorist unit; in the late 1970s - 1980s, a number of special units of the KGB of the USSR (1954-1991) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR (1946-1954) were also created in the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments (FSIN) and in the Air Force (VDV) in the 199990s. Civilian agencies with non-police functions, such as the Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM)'s Leader Special Center, have also created special units, also known as special forces.
