About This Mod

The plugin for Frosty Editor and Mod Manager allows you to edit and add text to the game, as well as to use mods with text changed with this plugin.

The Bioware Localisation Add-on expansion allows Mass Effect to also use mods created in Frosty Mod Manager.

Requirements

Version 1.1.1.1.1 is already included in Frosty 1.0.6.2. Refresh this page if you see newer versions that have not been merged.

Version 1.1.0.0.2 and later are compatible with Frosty Editor and Mod Manager version 1.0.6.0 Beta 1 or later, but not with development version 1.0.7 (at least without some changes).

Version 1.1.0.0.1 is compatible with Frosty 1.0.6.0 Alpha 3, Alpha 4, and Alpha 5. Versions of this plugin are available in the "Old files" section of the download section.

The current version of Frosty at the time of the last installation is version 1.0.6.1. The current version is available on the frosty, github page and home page: https://frostytoolsuite.com/.

Installation:

To use the plugin in the editor or mod manager, download the main file, unzip it and drop the included BiowareLocalisationPlugin.dll file into the Plugins folder of the installation directory.

The source code is provided here, so you can build the library yourself. If you are using the version packaged here, you will probably only need to replace the link to the frosty editor library with your system path information.

It is also merged with the main frosty branch on github.

Important note for users of mods:

Only use text modes that match the language of text available and selected in your game.

If you try to use a mod in a language that is not available for selection in your game, the ProcessModResources method of the frostyModExecutor artist will throw the most common "Object reference not set to object instance" exception, which will crash frosty. The error is 'Object reference not set to object instance'.

Use in Editor

The editor can be found in the View -> Bioware Localised String Editor menu.

Use the 'Insert/Edit' button in the lower left corner to display the edit dialog box for entering text. With version 1.1.1.1.0, a text replacement feature was added to make it easier to find and replace text. Text can be returned individually using the Delete/Return button in the Line Editor, or the entire text source can be returned using Frosty's Chunk/Res Explorer.

Exporting and importing Xml-based text makes it easier to exchange text between modes.

For more information, see the download section of the manual in pdf format. - The latest version of this manual was written at 3 am, so if there are any errors or better information, please let me know ;)

Clearly, the new text does not work reliably with globally translated sources.

Since version 1.1.1.1.0 of this plugin, mods containing adjectives to the names of artisans, edited for DA:I, will be ignored in previous versions. Otherwise, the plugins are completely backwards compatible. So beware of people claiming that your mod doesn't work - they may be using an older version of the plugin - you should see the entry on the Log tab in Mod Manager.

Recommendations for fashion authors

Not all language packs are available in all versions of the game, and frosty will crash if you attempt to implement a mod that changes resources unavailable in your local game. Therefore, please separate text mods from content mods that use text, and present text mods for each language.

For text mods created with this plugin, Frosty currently uses the 'Texts - <Language>' category.

Also, please share the text ID or the range of text ID that your mod uses to avoid ID conflicts. Please write it in the subject in the comments section of this file. Credits
