About This Mod

The .DAS utility for backing up and sorting save files into folders by UPDATE LOG ◆Version 1.1.1 FIX: Save files for characters with the same name, but in different games, are now divided into separate folders. If there are multiple characters with the same name, subsequent folders will have a number in parentheses after the character's name, such as "Maxwell (2)". Version 1.1 adds: New Save Recovery feature: Downloading a save file of a specific character from a backup to the game save folder Various error messages in the progress text box (e.g. empty directory, incorrect das_editor.exe file directory, save file not found) New error messages specific to this feature: copying saves to the game save folder Prevents copying saves to the game save folder if the limit of 250 saves is exceeded. We considered adding to DAI Saves the option of deleting certain characters from the DAI save folder, but we think there are too many ways this might go wrong. In the update, you can run the Sort and Backup function, make sure that everything you want to save is saved, and then delete all saves from the DAI saves folder. Then, use the Restore Save option for all characters you want to keep in the game. Capabilities ◆ What does DAS Sorter do 1) Sort and backup Copy the game's local save folder (e.g. /Bioware/Dragon Age Inquisition/Save) and files to the backup destination, sort into folders by the name of the character Update 1.1.1: If there are multiple characters with the same name, they fall into separate folders with the number after the name 2) RETRIEVE SAVES Extract the save files from the character's folder to the specified backup destination Local folder of game saves (e.g. /Bioware/Dragon Age Inquisition/Save). If you're approaching your save limit, save space Remove saves from the save folder* and copy only saves for the characters you want to save so you can choose which characters to upload to the game. Note: You must go to each character's folder in the backup, copy and paste only the save files into the Bioware saves folder. The game won't show saving in subfolders. Update 1.1: You can now use the "Restore saves" feature instead of doing it manually. Regular Backup If you've just finished playing and want to keep it in a safe place, there's no need to keep regular backups of all your saves, including saving other games. It will be easier for you to find the save of certain characters that you want to share/upload/edit. You can only restore and play certain characters in the game's save folder. * Always back up your files before deleting them! Sort the saves in the Bioware saves folder that the DAS sorter cannot perform. The game only loads saves from the root of the saves folder. If you save to subfolders, they won't appear in the game. Move or delete files from the game's original save folder or other folders. This is done by copying, not moving. The original files are not replaced. Copy, move, or delete other files on your computer (only files ending in .DAS are copied). Uploaded file name may contain extra digits. You can rename it if you save the .exe extension. Note: Version 1.0 works fine and is available for download, but it is worth upgrading if you are concerned about changes added in the new version.

Instructions for Use 1) Sort and Backup Open the das_sorter.exe file by double-clicking on it (or right-clicking and selecting 'Open') Select the path where the DA:I records are located Select the folder where the das_editor.exe is installed Select the folder where you want to copy the sorted records Click on 'Sort record files' Wait for 'Done' to appear in the execution window. Navigate to the selected backup folder and for each character find the folder containing only the corresponding log files. 2) Restore the save files Double-click das_sorter.exe to open it; when you go to the DA:I save folder, a save for your character will be added to it. Note: If you run the sequencer after creating a new save, it will be added to the backup. Starting a sequencer after deleting a save in the game (or directly from the game's save folder) will not delete the save from the backup. Troubleshooting / FAQ ◆ A Windows warning appears when you open this application. This is normal for many apps that are not installed from the Windows Store. Installation and startup are safe, just copy the files or open and close das_editor (required mode). The application also works with das_editor to create an xml file, extract and remove character names from the file. It does not modify the source log file and does not download anything. If you have any other questions or concerns about this, please feel free to post them in the Contributions section. When you click on "Sort Registered Files", this application will open in a new window - make sure that the path to das_editor.exe points to das_editor.exe and not to das_sorter.exe. When you click on "Sort Registered Files", you will see that das_editor.exe is missing. If das_editor.exe has a different name on your computer, you should rename it before starting. It's the easiest way to make sure it's the right program. When I click Sort Saved Files, many windows open and close. That's okay. The program runs das_editor.exe (the required mod) to get the name of each character in the game. For example, if there are three characters in a game, three windows pop up or flicker. Why do I get the message "I have a manually verified file" when I check for viruses? The main reason why this file is marked as malicious by some services is that it runs another process/application within itself, interacting with das_editor.exe when it is opened and sorted. It also creates and deletes files (xml files that das_editor can create) during this process. Other possible causes include a single exe file or a specific tool used to convert the code to an exe file. Click the blue checkbox next to the file name to view the full report. In general, it is suspicious for an application to automatically open another application, as this can be used to embed code or tamper with other parts of the computer. It is also possible that the application simulates user input when interacting with other processes that are command-line applications. It is quite understandable that the virus scanner gives a warning. As described in the description and in the first FAQ question, the program only affects the .DAS file and only gets access to the folders specified in the various fields that you need to fill out. It also does not change the original. When you open das_editor (the required mod), it imports one of the files into a program that automatically fills in the menu items needed to create the xml file. He also opens these files to get the names of the characters, and deletes them when ready. If this does not solve the problem and you have additional questions, please feel free to leave comments in the "Contribution" section. I understand that you should be vigilant about the security of your computer, and I encourage that vigilance. I will be happy to answer any of your questions about how it works. Questions, Requests and Wishes ◆ If you have a problem not described in the Troubleshooting section, or if you have a question or wish on features, please let us know in the Materials section. Errors and issues: please specify the operating system and version (e.g. Windows 10, version 1903), a working screenshot of the das_sorter application and explain what happened in the comments. Questions: Technical details are not required unless you believe they are relevant to your comment. Inquiries: If you are not sure that something is reasonable, you can still ask a question. At least I can tell you if I can try it.
