About This Mod

This mod is no longer supported, use TruBy9 instead!!!

Ultra-Widescreen Patches

This mod patches the Fallout 4 interface for 21:9 UW-UXGA resolution.

This mod is completely autonomous and DOES NOT require Flawless Widescreen to work.

This mod correctly converts the loading screens, sights, Power Armor Rainbox and all 3d icons that you see in the menu to a ratio of 21:9.

Just set up this mod with your favorite mod manager.

I use ModOrganizer 2, but NMM works too (if you want to go crazy managing billions of random files in one folder).

Don't forget to edit the Fallout4Prefs.ini file in the [Display] section and add the 21:9 resolution settings:

iSize W=2560 ; or any other 21:9 resolution you use

iSize H=1080

bTopMostWindow=0

bMaximizeWindow=0

bFull Screen=0

bBorderless=1

Updated from 2.0

In version 2.1, I dropped the .bsa archive because it caused some problems. Delete the archive and the associated ini edits (see below in red) and install the new version with your favorite mod manager.

sResourceStartUpArchiveList=Fallout4 - Startup.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2, uw-uxga.bsa

SResourceArchiveList=Fallout4 - Voices.ba2, Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2, Fallout4 - MeshesExtra.ba2, Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2, uw-uxga.bsa

Workshop menu icons

The workshop icons are still hard-coded at 16:9. Until this is fixed, you can use the ini settings provided with fomod Installer.

Fixing these icons is a rather troublesome task, as it involves scaling and changing the position of a set of elements in an nif file.

HUD Power Armor

Although the power armor HUD is not encoded at 16:9, it is not wide enough to cover the entire 21:9 screen area. Until the fix is implemented, you can use the ini settings provided with fomod Installer.

Correct means editing the .nif model and adding the missing metal parts to the left and right of the power armor screen. It's not very easy, as you need to redo UVW mapping/textures.

Random questions

Why not use a widescreen fix, you might ask? Don't get me wrong, Widescreen fix is great, and it has allowed me to enjoy the game so far. But not all files are patched, and the text is too small to my taste. Also, it requires Flawless Widescreen, and I want to avoid constant startup.

What about PA RainBox HUD Fix? Doesn't it fix HUD Power Armor Rainbox? Yeah, yeah, he's fixing it. But my fix is a little different: I kept all parts of the original interface, only changed the scale to 21:9. I even rearranged the rain particles so they wouldn't cover just part of the 16:9 screen. I'm very proud of my rain fix.

How?

Most patches are SWF patches, which in most cases are very easy to edit. An article related to this mod describes how I edited these files.

Some patches are nif patches. The game uses .nif files to render some interface elements, and these nif files use a hard-coded 16:9 aspect ratio. These nif files control a translucent green background, sight menu, workshop menu, power armor rain box, load screen, main menu screens and so on. So I've remade these nif's to 21:9 format with 3ds max and nifskope.

You can see the results in the screenshots above.

The loading and maintenance menus also needed to change the scale of the texture.
