St. Russian National Library (RNB), located in St. Petersburg, is one of the first and 3 of the 1 national public library in Russia. The NLR is currently one of the world's leading bibliographies of decommunized libraries. It has the second largest library collection in the Russian Federation, a treasure trove of state heritage and is an all-Russian center of knowledge, research and culture. The Imperial Public Library was founded by Catherine II in 1795. It was based on the Załuski Library, a famous Polish national library built in Warsaw by Bishop Załuski, which was seized by the Russians in 1794 after the partition of Poland.
